Olga Engvall – Founder of MinglMe

Olga Engvall is the founder of MinglMe – The Singles Social Club, a Swedish community where singles meet through real-life activities instead of dating apps. With a background in UX design, she started MinglMe in Stockholm in 2024 on one simple belief: real meetings beat endless swiping.

The story behind MinglMe

After 25 years of marriage and three children, Olga suddenly found herself single – and stepped straight into the world of dating apps. Her reaction was immediate: where were the real-life connections?

As a UX designer, she saw the problem clearly. The apps had turned love into a kind of shopping experience: endless swiping, superficial matches and conversations that rarely led anywhere. But people don't long for more filters – they long for genuine connection and shared experiences. So she set out to create a place where you don't pick profiles; you actually meet.

When Olga began talking to other singles, she realised she was far from alone – many felt exactly the same. That's how MinglMe was born: a movement for dating IRL. Together with co-founder Jacob Hell, she built The Singles Social Club in December 2024.

"Do something you love – meet someone you like"

The idea behind MinglMe is simple. When you do something you enjoy – cooking, playing boule, dancing or tasting wine – it's easier to be yourself, and connection happens naturally. Everyone's single. Everyone's there for the same reason. And you meet in real life, not through a profile picture. The chat comes afterwards.

"You can have a thousand friends online, but no one to feed the cat while you're away."

Loneliness has become a public-health issue, and Olga believes we need fewer algorithms and more real meetings.

MinglMe today

Since launch, more than 4,000 people have created an account on MinglMe. The community is based in Stockholm and expanding to more Swedish cities, with the app launching on the App Store and Google Play. What began as one person's frustration has grown into a community for singles who want to meet for real.

"It happens in the meeting."
